The 10th Annual Meeting of the Korean Society of Geriatric Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (10th Anniversary)

Welcome Message

Dear esteemed members and colleagues of the Korean Society of Geriatric Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (KSGAP),

I am Seokyoung Song, President of KSGAP.

Our society has reached a highly meaningful milestone: our 10th anniversary. I extend my deepest gratitude to all members whose dedication has paved the way for our growth over the past decade. It is my great honor to cordially invite you to the "KSGAP 10th Anniversary Conference" as we prepare to leap into the next ten years.

For this milestone conference, we have carefully designed a program that balances practical clinical challenges with the core topics of future medicine.

The morning begins with a 'Special Topic' session focusing on Big Data and the Common Data Model (CDM), a major current issue in the medical field. Going "Beyond the Promise" of big data research, we will delve into ethical considerations and practical pros and cons. This will serve as a time to present a new blueprint and safety net for geriatric anesthesia research using multi-center standardized data.

This conference is especially meaningful as we celebrate our new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Japan Society for Geriatric Anesthesia (JSGA). In celebration of this partnership, we have prepared a Korea-Japan Joint Special Session on Perioperative Risk Stratification in the afternoon. Experts from both countries will share vivid clinical experiences and perspectives. We will discuss risk assessments that harmonize age and frailty, and explore essential prehabilitation strategies and practical perioperative pain management—even recognizing that these factors are largely unmodifiable.

In the subsequent 'Focused Issue' session, we will organically connect orthopedic, anesthesiology, and pain medicine perspectives on postoperative pain in elderly patients undergoing hip surgery. The goal is to explore multidisciplinary, preemptive intervention strategies to prevent the transition from acute to chronic pain.

Following the conclusion of all academic sessions, we will host a 90-minute Standing Party to celebrate KSGAP’s 10th anniversary together. With light finger foods and champagne, as well as a lucky draw, simple games, and congratulatory remarks, we hope this will be a warm networking opportunity to encourage one another and forge new collaborations beyond academic exchange.

The remarkable growth of KSGAP has been made possible entirely by your passion and participation. I strongly encourage you to attend this conference to share in this meaningful time of expanding knowledge and building friendships.

Sincerely
